This Micromusical is a re-enactment of one of the World’s most disastrous events – the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in Southern Italy in AD 79. Besides being a mammoth geological event, and destroying a great number of communities, and, most importantly, taking many lives, it only known to us because in the 18th century, small artifacts began to be dug up by farmers ploughing their fields. This led to the finding of a plaque marking the Theatre of Herculaneum. From that point serious excavations took place. It was not until much later that those excavations were successful in uncovering what is still one of the most remarkable findings, and one which tells us an amazing amount about that period, some three millennia ago!
