This Micromusical is a dramatized account of the events in the life of Annie Edson Taylor, born October 24th, 1838, who, on her 63rd birthday, went over Horseshoe Falls, one of the three Falls that constitute Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, in a barrel. The events in her life are rife for the stage, in themselves providing an exciting and interesting background. However, for the Students studying and staging this Micromusical, there is also the opportunity to study what life was like for women in the year 1901! The play explores how little opportunity there was for even an educated woman to make her way in the world. As one of the songs imply ‘And if she had no husband, no father and no babe, she was destined for a hard and tragic life!’.
